The Mexican telecommunications regulator IFT (Instituo Federal de Telecomunicaciones) recently announced a numbering plan change affecting Mexico mobile numbers and the way they are dialled from outside the country from 3rd August 2019.
From this date, Mexico is introducing a closed ten digit numbering plan, and as part of the change the requirement to put a 1 prefix between the country code (+52) and the subscriber number when calling from outside Mexico will be dropped. A grace period of 30 days from the date of introduction will be in place, after which calls to Mexican mobile numbers that still include the 1 prefix will fail to connect.
Our rate sheets and dialplans will be updated shortly to reflect his change, but in the meantime you should make this change aware to any end user who regularly calls Mexico.
